On ESSENCE and EXPRESSION

The work is shaped by reflections on the inherent nature of forged steel and precious metals, and how they are brought into form: through non-cutting reformation and the immanent rhythm of traditional craftsmanship. Non-cutting forming is a technical process in which the shape of a workpiece is changed with little or no loss of material. Focus lies on the unique inherent qualities of these materials—steel used in iron sculpture, and precious metals in design—and on the way they are shaped through craft-based techniques that are intrinsic to the materials themselves.

Art as a provocation: Through the conscious choice of materials and the embedded techniques of craftsmanship, heart, mind, and hand open a unique, personal view of the world.
